What’s the job all about?

The Finance Director Operations is a key strategic leader within the organization, responsible for providing financial leadership and support across the Operations function. This role focuses on driving financial accountability across all operational domains, improving cost efficiency, and managing CAPEX.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities involve?

Financial Leadership & Strategy:

  • Overall responsibility for executing financial processes in the manufacturing sites as per group directives, ensuring a strong control framework and compliance.
  • Lead the financial strategy for the Operations department, driving alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Provide actionable insights and support decision-making at both the strategic and operational levels, working closely with the COO and other functional leaders.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts that evaluate current and future business strategies, focusing on efficiency, cost structure optimization, and long-term profitability.

Integrated Performance Management:

  • Drive integrated performance management, including cost price analysis, manufacturing efficiency, and working capital management across the entire operations value chain (factories, planning, logistics, procurement, and R&D and Engineering).
  • Lead the planning and performance cycle for entities in scope with a clear link to the S&OP process.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance across all operational units, ensuring that operational goals align with financial targets.
  • Collaborate with the Operations leadership team to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and operational optimization.

CAPEX and Investment Management:

  • Oversee capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning and management, ensuring that investment proposals align with the company’s strategic goals and deliver expected returns.
  • Ensure disciplined financial control and reporting around CAPEX projects, monitoring project progress and ensuring budget adherence.
  • Provide financial oversight and analysis of investments in technology, design, and innovation initiatives, assessing their impact on overall operational performance.

Outsourcing & Efficiency Initiatives:

  • Lead financial evaluations of potential outsourcing initiatives, assessing the financial impact and strategic fit of such decisions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency, cost reduction, and process optimization across the Operations department.
  • Support the COO and operational teams in evaluating manufacturing models (in-house vs outsourced) to ensure the company maintains a competitive edge.

Team in Scope:

  • Factory controllers of factory sites (direct reporting line)
  • FP&A analyst Operations (indirect reporting line)

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a proactive, high-energy individual who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. If this sounds like you, you’ll likely have:

  • 15+ years of experience in a high-level financial support role, preferably within an international setting.
  • Relevant higher vocational degree, ideally in Finance, Accounting, or similar fields. The education specified is crucial for understanding complex financial data and providing strategic insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership and accountability.
  • Ability to work at the executive level.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to “get things done.”
  • Experience in managing CAPEX and investment projects.
  • A meticulous eye for detail, paired with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence, sensitivity to cultural nuances, and a commitment to inclusivity.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, influential, and people management skills.
  • A polished command of English—both written and spoken. Dutch language is a good to have.
